So the story goes a little something like this: One day long ago, when my daughter Lailani was 5 she and I were going through her cubbie bible verse so she could get her first cubbie patch at church. Cubbies is kind of like catechism. Anyway, so you have a week to help your child learn the verse and the verse was from James 4:17 “Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin.” So we learn the verse, and everything’s great, she gets her cubbie patch for her vest and all is well.

The next day we had to go somewhere and I did something wrong so wrong I guess my daughter called me on it. What was funny was she waited till we were back in the car before she rebuked me about lying I think it was lol.Yes that’s what it was. Anyway she says to me: “momma you sinned and lied and you know what the bible says about lying momma.” and she proceeds to quote the verse from memory. It was so cute and so sad all at once lol. I felt so small that day. I felt like she was the parent and I was the child but she did it in love and very compassionately I just thought I would share how wonderful children are!!!! Also how thankful I was for cubbies and that she was learning so much about me and herself eventually. Ultimately, showing how gracious God is and that he has a sense of humor!!! I remember being rebuked by my children on more than one occasion, but what a blessing to know they were following the Lord! Hallelujah!

It’s a beautiful thing to know they are listening and understand who God is as they grow, how awesome for children to love God early in life.

Yes what is that scripture? “‘Out of the mouth of infants and nursing babies you have prepared praise’?” Matthew 21:16. Lani cracks up every time I tell that story, because she doesn’t remember it.
