I was so afraid this movie was going to about Scientology, that I didn’t want to see it. Then I thought it’s probably not about that. So, I saw it, and I have to say it was pretty good, and it wasn’t about Scientology.
It had an interesting pace, it was kind of slow but it wasn’t boring. The special effects were handled with ease, and not right in your face. The set direction was also cool.
Tom Cruise, Jerry McGuire, Minority Report, at times is a very decent actor, and other times not so much. Here he was very good. He seems to handle the sci-fi genre exceedingly well.
The story was about a couple who were the mop up crew of earth after being destroyed, because of an alien attack. There were only ruins left after the war, and they were there to survey and clean up radioactive areas, and when their stint was over, they would return to their new home planet where they would be with the rest of the earth’s survivors.
Morgan Freeman, Now You See Me, Seven, was in it but it was almost just a cameo appearance. The lady lead was good, and seems like a newcomer, and English, Andrea Riseborough, Welcome to The Punch, Shadow Dancer, as Victoria.
I think the writing was decent but it could have been a little more explanatory. I give this movie a B, there was effort put into this film and Tom handled the material favorably. This movie is rated PG13 for subject matter and violence, this is not family friendly. ***Safety Alert*** there was another one of those dubious relationship thingy’s going on in this movie, just a heads up.
