World’s End

This was an entertaining British flick, it had all the comedy favorites from Britain, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Martin Freeman, Paddy Considine, and Eddy Marsen.  All the heavy hitters in movies now.   Also, director, Edgar Wright of Scott Pilgrim VS The World, and Hot Fuzz.

So the story goes like this, 5 guys who were buds in high school decide to drink a pint of beer each, in 12 different pubs in one night, well they aren’t able to complete the task in high school.   So, one of the guys decides to get all the guys together for another try at it 20 years later.

Note: in Europe the drinking age is 18.   As they begin drinking in the pubs, they suddenly notice the people seem to be acting strange, and so the story unravels.

This flick has many laughs, for me it takes a little while to start getting jokes, and with all the bad language, it takes me even longer.   However, I think this movie was very funny, I really liked all the actors, as well as the director, he’s one of my very favorites.

Also, the pace of the movie was pretty fast, until it got to the end, it started to drag out a little, but they still managed to get laughs.   Most of the comedy gags worked, and Nick Frost, Hot Fuzz, Sean of the Dead, was extremely funny, and a good actor.

Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost are a comedy team, they’ve done many films and tv shows together.   So it was nice to see them switch things up by letting Nick play it straight.

Normally, he just acts silly in movies with his counterpart Simon Pegg, Star Trek series, and Sean of the Dead, but here he was the most entertaining character.   Anyhow, it worked, also, the director Edgar Wright is just A.M.A.Z.I.N.G, and who ever does his editing is brilliant as well.   This is a must see, I give this movie an A-, wow and I don’t ever do that.    ***Safety Alerts***a tremendous amount of cursing, very crass British humor, and violence, this movie is rated R, and not for kids, and I actually gave it an A-. • Me as well, the other 2 were very funny, this was funny. But still out of the movies that I’ve seen so far this year, one of the better ones. And yes I had fun going with a pretty big group of old fogies, that liked it a lot.
