The Jittery Goat does it again, he’s such a brilliant/clever writer I have to reblog his stuff!!! He’s very straight forward and I love that his posts are NOT long-winded, (like mine) anyway, take a gander at his page and you won’t be disappointed!!! This is a daily prompt from yesterday.
What’s the one guilty pleasure you have that’s so good, you no longer feel guilty about it?
If one feels guilty about something, how can it be pleasurable?
Likely if you one feels guilty about something the conscience is telling that person it is wrong and they should stop doing it. Once one arrives at the point where they don’t feel guilty it means the conscience has become calloused. It is no longer functioning in a way in which it was intended. What is that old expression, “The best pillow is a good conscience.”
The trick is to understand the heart and the conscience. The heart says to seek pleasure, it wants immediate gratification and wants to ingratiate you. A properly trained conscience will tell you to do what is best for you in the long run.
Just because something is pleasurable does not mean it is beneficial.
