Faithful or Unfaithful…

Daily Prompt: Un/Faithful ~ Topic

by michelle w. on December 29, 2012

Tell us about the role that faith plays in your life — or doesn’t.

What a great question!!! One that I must really think about. I do know that my faith plays a big part in my every day life I just have to contemplate how much faith I exude on a daily basis. Since faith is really something you can’t measure and it’s kind of intangible, I would like to say I think I have more good faithful days then bad unfaithful days but that is probably not true unfortunately, but for the sake of this post let’s say I do. Mainly because my belief in God directs me to himself constantly. But God does have to work with me in my unbelief. I do have days when I question everything scripture says and don’t believe any of it. The reason this occurs is because sometimes God asks the seemingly impossible and I cringe at the idea of trusting him with EVERYTHING!!!! He leaves no rock unturned  with the amount that he would like me to trust him with. Even though he has never been unfaithful to me. Sometimes, he doesn’t always give me what I want, but I know I should trust him anyway, being such a good parent that he is to me. But because of my imperfectness I doubt like the disciple Thomas from the bible and question him and my faith fails and takes a dive right out the window. And these are the frustrating times, these times I’m very familiar with, all too familiar. Here we go, I’m receiving a scripture that speaks to this…Proverbs 3:5,6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him and he shall make your path straight.”

“Make my path straight,” the Lord says, yes, I need a straight path because every time I try to make my path straight with my strength, it turns in to a maze. Yes, I agree, I need to lean on him for a straight path and that is the challenge. His way is a 100% right and mine, well do we really want to see those numbers??? I want to make a disclosure statement now and that is, trusting God for everything is no easy matter, it takes loads of practice and fighting with yourself, your pride and just the wilfulness of your nature. But doing it will bring great blessing and that’s my ultimate desire, is to do the will of God and way less of my will!!! Faith isn’t easy or comfortable, nor is it popular, but it’s the best so as I continue to work on this question, I pray that you will be encouraged, and to answer the above question, yes and no. 1. Shazza, one of the things I love about you, and that I’m certain God loves about you is your openness and honesty in dealing with tough subjects. We ALL struggle with our faith at times in our walk with God, because like it or not, we’re all clothed in flesh, which hates to be uncomfortable, and loves its own way. It was no accident that God led the powers that be at WordPress to make faith the daily prompt yesterday, because what He did here was to cause people to examine their hearts. Sadly, some will remain content with where they are at, and continue to rely on themselves rather than Him, but others will be moved to search for Him with all their hearts, until they lay hold of Him.

This prompt wasn’t just for us to speak our minds, it was an opportunity to search ourselves. It wasn’t only meant to draw the lost to God, although I’m certain that He did this, because Jesus said if we lift Him up, He will draw men unto Himself. It was also an opportunity for believers to draw closer to Him. Hallelujah! Each one of us has different weaknesses that we need to work on, and by giving us this prompt, we’re better able to pray and ask Him like the father of the demonic boy, “Lord, help my unbelief!”

And for the record, I LOVED your post, and so does the Lord, because it’s obvious that you love Him and want to know Him more intimately. Many blessings to you, my beloved sister!

    Love,
    Cheryl

    • Thank you Cheryl, I’m crying right now because what you said I guess I needed to hear, sister. What a blessing you are. I love WordPress because I have so much encouragement and affirmation that this is something that I need to be doing. Also, it helps to know that others suffer differently but are still praising God like you, dear Cheryl. Thank you for being so good at writing and communicating through the written word because you do it like no other I find!!! Blessing right back at you luv. Shazza!!!!

      • I totally agree! But it is so very rewarding when we choose to trust even though our feelings are whining like tired hungry kids in the backseat… we must not let our emotions do the driving. The just shall live/walk by faith. 🙂
